A true- to- tradition woman in Japan used to get married, was devoted to raising children, looking after the household and gave unquestioning loyalty to her busy husband. Well, times have changed.

Designer brands have modelled the young urban woman on the types of values that you are accustomed to seeing in the Western World. Young and independent woman wearing the latest fashion and influenced by the hip culture demanding equal rights and opportunity are as liberated as their more outspoken and vocal Western counterparts. From the article in Japanese Times, you get the impression that this is unfamiliar turf in Japan and the men appear slow to catch up with the sweeping social change.
